IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Are bunnies a good pet for children?
Bunnies are a great pet for children with the help of an adult to oversee the care and health of your new family pet. Bunnies need a lot of attention and children under 10 years old should be supervised while handling your new bunny.
  • Are bunnies a lot of work?
All pets create an element of work and bunnies are no different. Your bunny will go home being litter box trained. This means all your bunnies urine will happen in the litter box, but please expect accidents while your baby bunny acclimates to its new environment. Bunnies poop small round pellets at a rate of 2-300 per day. My adult bunnies get 75% of these in their litter boxes but expect to have poop to pick up until you can consistently reinforce litter box use. Bunnies need to be brushed frequently and will need nail trims, all of which can be done at home. Most importantly, bunnies want to spend time with you. A bunny that feels love will be content, happy, and love you back.
  • Do bunnies need vaccinations and veterinarian care?
Bunnies do not need yearly vaccinations and hopefully will never need veterianrian care. It is a good idea to establish a relationship with a veterinarian service that is equipped to care for bunnies in the event of an emergency.
  • What do I feed my bunny?
Rule of thumb is that 80% of your bunnies diet should come from Timothy hay. With a small amount of quality rabbit pellets available twice daily. Fresh fruit should be given as a rare treat and fresh veggies given only after 6 months of age. My bunnies love fresh parsley but I will send home a list of other bunny safe foods.
